How do I sign off a supervisee’s hours?

On Supriva, you sign off a supervisee’s hours at the end of each session, simply by confirming that the session went ahead. Your supervisee confirms too, and together those two confirmations build their record of supervision, with the date, length and type of every session. The record is ready for them to export at renewal or audit, so there is no logbook to fill in and no year of sessions to piece together from your diary.

What associations look for

Every association wants the supervisor to stand behind the hours. ACA asks for the supervisor’s signature against each session in its Professional Supervision Logbook, or a letter from the supervisor. PACFA asks for hours verified by the supervisor, with individual and group supervision shown separately, under its Clinical Supervision Standard. AASW asks for evidence of supervision in the member’s CPD record, as its Record/Evidence of Supervision template shows. Your confirmation on Supriva is that verification, given session by session.

How confirmation works

When a session ends, you and your supervisee each confirm it on the closing screen. If someone joined late or left early, the record shows the time they actually attended. Group sessions are confirmed in just the same way, so every member of your group builds their own record from the same session.

The rules are applied for you

Each supervisee’s record counts their hours against their own association’s rules and year. For ACA members, that means only 1 hour a week counts, apart from one session of up to 2 hours each month. For PACFA’s Certified Practising registrants, the record shows how their hours split between individual and group supervision. A supervisee who belongs to more than one association sees each total side by side.

Ready for renewal and audit

PACFA can audit a registrant’s supervision for any of the previous three years and ask for their supervisors’ signed evidence. Because your confirmations are kept on Supriva, your supervisee can produce that evidence in moments, and you will rarely be asked to sign anything after the fact.

Sign only for what you provided

Confirm a session only when it went ahead as booked. If something was different, such as a shorter session or a missed one, say so at confirmation, which keeps your supervisee’s record accurate and protects you both.
